A Japanese Cypress Wood Mizuya Tansu
A Japanese Mizuya Tansu, with a flush square form, fitted with an informal arrangement of sliding panelled doors, cupboards, drawers and bottle holders, the sides with slats.
This is a characteristic Japanese kitchen cabinet of the period with its ingenious use of sliding doors and other useful features. The timber appears to be cypress, a much-favoured softwood in Japanese practical furniture.
Antique: Late 1800s.
Excellent: Shows only minor signs of age and use with no damage.
