A late 19th century cedar seven drawer chest, in excellent condition. It has a moulded top above a panelled hat drawer flanked by banks of two short drawers over three long drawers within split turned pilasters on turned feet. These 19th century chests with the distinctive square hat drawers and bold carved pilasters are a characteristic of Scottish cabinetmaking. It is structurally excellent and suitable for everyday use.
