A 19th C. Colonial Asian Hardwood Chest on Stand
A 19th century Colonial chest on stand, with ebony mouldings and inlay, the hinged cover above an ornate pierced brass escutcheon and twin inlaid medallions, the stand comprising two short drawers and turned legs.
This colonial chest on stand is of accommodating size and in nice condition. Whilst it shares some characteristics of Anglo Indian furniture the item has Dutch influences and could have been manufactured in the colonies associated with the Dutch East India Company. The wood is likely to be an indigenous hardwood.
