Heavy Item Shipping
Our standard shipping calculated for heavy items in our checkout is:
One-person delivery (only one person in the delivery truck to unload, the driver will require assistance unloading large or heavy items)
To your door (not inside your house)
To ground floor residences only (not to apartments)
To residences with easy access (no stairs, steep slopes or narrow laneway access)
Within our normal delivery areas (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and NE Victoria)
If you require a delivery that is non-standard, please contact us for a quote.
Standard heavy item shipping:
The standard heavy item shipping calculated on our website is for one-person, curbside delivery to ground floor residences only in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney and North East Victoria.
Read our policies below to clarify what heavy items are, what one-person delivery is, and when you may need a two-person delivery.
What are heavy items?
Heavy items are items that cannot be delivered by standard Australia Post services, due to size or weight. Items include most furniture, some rugs, standard lamps and larger homewares pieces.
Not sure if an item you are viewing is classified heavy? You can identify on the product page if the item is 'heavy' as this will be noted under the item description in yellow text.
What is one-person, curbside delivery?
‘One-person delivery’ means that there is only one person in the delivery truck, so you or someone else must be home to assist with lifting your piece out of the truck when it arrives.
'Curbside' means that the delivery driver will bring the piece to your door but will not be able to help you move the piece inside your home.
‘Ground-floor’ means that we cannot provide this service if you live in an apartment, or other residence that has stairs or restricted access.
We cannot provide one-person delivery if:
1. You live in an apartment or other residence not on ground level.
2. You have purchased a piece that is heavy or awkward and you are not able to assist with the lifting when it arrives at your home.
3. Your home has difficult access (for example a steep driveway, narrow laneway, or stairs)
How can I get a two-person delivery?
We can organize to deliver outside our normal delivery area, to apartments, and to bring the piece inside your home (full service delivery) but there are additional charges as these types of delivery sometimes require two people, or additional delivery time.
Please contact us for a quote if you think you may need a two-person delivery.
What Happens Next?
Once you place your order for a heavy Item on our website, you'll receive an Order Confirmation email from us confirming your order details, usually within an hour. Greystones uses third parties for delivery of any larger items outside Australia Post guidelines. You will be contacted by our delivery partner's customer care team when your order arrives at their location in your state to arrange a suitable date and time. Deliveries are made Monday to Friday, between 9am and 6pm (Public holidays excepted).
Heavy Item Delivery Time Frames:
Melbourne: between 7 - 10 business days
Canberra: between 7 - 10 business days
Sydney: between 14 - 16 business days
Brisbane: between 14-16 business days
Note, if your order contains both heavy items and small items, your small items will be dispatched separately via Australia Post.
Greystones uses Australia Post eParcel service for all small item deliveries within Australia.
Your parcel will be sent with an Australia Post tracking number, which will be emailed to you when your order has left us.
All orders require a signature on delivery. If there is no one available to receive the parcel, Australia Post will leave a card with collection details from your local post office.
You can track your standard post delivery once you've received your shipping confirmation email. Simply copy and paste your tracking number on the Australia Post website here.
